Local moves are billed by the hour for the crew and truck. Two movers are $119 an hour on weekdays, so a packed one-bedroom apartment usually comes to $357–$714 before drive time.

Verified Great guys to work with The guys were fast, nice and great to work with. They were also honest and careful with all of my belongings. I say honest because something was broken and they showed me before moving it. They did NOT break it. They just noticed it had been repaired and instead of pretending nothing was wrong, they pointed it out even though I may have thought they did it. It was from the previous move.
I recently used JFK moving for a second time. Just like the first time the service was excellent, they arrived on time, and there were no extra charges or outrageous fees. The movers were so skilled and were able to get my furniture in and out without any problem. A packed one-bedroom apartment usually takes three to six hours with two movers. California's double drive time applies to the drive between your two addresses, and pianos, safes and pool tables carry a flat fee. Weekends and the first and last days of the month can carry a different rate, so the rate for your date is confirmed in writing before you book. Yes. JFK Moving LLC holds California Household Movers Permit CAL-T 0191935 from the Bureau of Household Goods and Services, US DOT number 3079794 and MC number 1411888, and carries general liability insurance. Every move includes Released Value coverage at $0.60 per pound per item, and full-value protection plans are available before moving day. Copies of the documents are on our license page.
Yes. A deposit holds your moving date and is applied to your final bill. If you reschedule, give us at least 24 hours' notice; after three reschedules the deposit is kept as a booking fee and no longer applies to the final bill.
The Double Drive Time rule from the California Public Utilities Commission applies to hourly moves inside California. Instead of charging for the mover's trip from their yard and back, the drive time between your origin and destination is charged twice at the hourly rate: a 20-minute drive between homes is billed as 40 minutes. The clock otherwise runs from arrival at your origin to the last item placed at your destination.
As early as you know your date. We do not take same-day moves; next-day moves are booked at our normal rates when a crew is open. Fridays, Saturdays and the first and last days of the month fill first, so book those dates as early as you can. A deposit holds the date once it is confirmed.
Cash, debit cards, all major credit cards, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and PayPal. Business checks are accepted for commercial moves; personal checks are not accepted for residential moves.
Pianos, safes and pool tables carry a flat fee in addition to the hourly or flat move price, quoted before moving day:
- Upright piano: $199, or $299 when stairs are involved.
- Baby grand or grand piano: $249, or $349 with stairs.
- Safe: $99, or $199 with stairs.
- Pool table: disassembly $149 and reassembly $199; the move itself is quoted by the office based on the table.
We do not rent monthly storage units, but we can hold your packed load on our truck overnight or for a few days between homes: $129 per night for one- to two-bedroom loads and $149 per night for three- to four-bedroom loads, with a discounted rate for longer stays. See storage services.
